Annie and her mother have finally escaped Annie’s abusive father. Tormented by violent intrusive thoughts, Annie’s terrified he’ll find them and even more terrified she’ll end up like him. But everyone in Graver’s Ditch, Ohio, is creepily polite, there’s an unexplained curfew, and every night, a black dog watches Annie from her bedroom window. Standing on its hind legs.

Then Annie meets Eden, the enigmatic leader of a clique of outcast, rebellious girls at Annie’s new school. Eden shows Annie how they transform into animals to escape the town’s troubles, and when Annie’s with the girls—and not in her own body—she’s safe from her urges. But when the girls’ enemies are found mauled in the woods, Annie must figure out who’s really in control before someone she cares about turns up dead, by her own claws.

Rabid Flesh is a feral, gritty novel that confronts the horrors of misogyny—and of fighting back against it.
